China Passenger Vehicle Overseas Market Report (Jan-Jul 2026)

From Jan‑Jul 2026, overseas sales of Chinese‑brand passenger vehicles hit 1.9795 million units, up 62.0% YoY, reflecting strong global expansion momentum. All regions posted positive YoY growth. South America led at 114.9% YoY; Oceania’s sales doubled (+100.0% YoY). Europe, Asia, Africa and North America all grew by over 40%, as Chinese automakers continued to advance their global footprint

In terms of product mix, NEVs accounted for 51.8% of overseas sales of Chinese‑brand PVs, surpassing ICEs to become the core overseas‑sales segment. By region, Asia achieved the highest NEV penetration rate at 65.7%. Europe, South America and Oceania recorded NEV shares close to or above 50%. North America and Africa remained dominated by ICEs, yet their NEV shares improved compared with 2025

Looking at individual destination markets, Brazil, the UK and Russia were the top three overseas markets for Chinese PV manufacturers. Russia posted a 42% YoY decline, while all other key markets delivered robust growth. Italy, Germany and Brazil saw particularly notable increases

When it comes to manufacturer performance, BYD and Chery took the top two spots in the Top‑10 overseas‑sales ranking, with overseas sales of 509.8K units and 494.1K units respectively, jointly accounting for 50.8% of the overseas market. SAIC, GreatWall and Geely followed as the second echelon. All listed manufacturers achieved positive YoY growth. EV startups delivered remarkable performance: Leapmotor registered an explosive 531% YoY surge, while Xpeng grew by 162% YoY

These top‑10 players also exhibited distinct regional layout strategies. Among traditional automakers, BYD targeted Brazil and Australia; Chery and SAIC held strengths in the UK and Southern Europe; GreatWall, Geely and Changan performed well in Russia, Mexico and other markets. EV startups adopted differentiated overseas strategies: Leapmotor and Xpeng took Western Europe as their core breakthrough, while GAC focused on Southeast Asia, including Thailand and Indonesia
