From 2023 to 2025, China’s passenger vehicle (PV) exports to the five Central Asian countries rose steadily from 255,000 units to 424,000 units, with full-year 2026 projections reaching 551,000 units, sustaining a robust growth momentum. Meanwhile, the export structure is undergoing rapid electrification: the share of ICE has declined steadily, while the penetration of PHEV and BEV has surged, pushing the combined share of NEV above 30% in 2026. This firmly cements Central Asia as a core growth market for Chinese automakers, highlighting the strong competitiveness of their electrified products in the region

Building on this overall growth, China’s PV exports to the five Central Asian countries have shown structural growth from 2024 to Jan-Feb 2026. Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan lead the growth momentum, with YoY increases of 205.1% and 74.4% respectively in Jan-Feb 2026, while Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan maintain steady expansion. Notably, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan remain the core markets, accounting for over 95% of total exports; in Jan-Feb 2026, Kyrgyzstan’s export share rose to 31.7% and Uzbekistan’s to 21.2%, further driving Central Asia’s position as a key overseas market for Chinese automakers

Alongside the overall export growth, the penetration of China’s NEV exports to the five Central Asian countries has continued to rise from 2024 to Jan-Feb 2026, with differentiated performance across markets. Uzbekistan leads the electrification trend, with its NEV export share hitting 63.4% in Jan-Feb 2026. Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan maintain double-digit NEV penetration, at 19.6% and 23.3% respectively, while Tajikistan has seen a sharp surge in NEV penetration to 46.5% from a low base. In contrast, Turkmenistan, with a small export base, has yet to receive NEV shipments from China. Overall, the Central Asian market is accelerating its electrification transformation, further underscoring the competitiveness of Chinese NEV products

At the maker level, the market competition pattern is continuously optimizing. In Jan-Feb 2026, Chery led China’s top 10 PV exporters to the five Central Asian countries with 14.5k units (+65% YoY), followed by Geely (6.4k units, +50% YoY) and BYD (6.1k units, +88% YoY). BYD achieved a 100% NEV share, highlighting its strong electrification advantage, while Geely also posted a solid 43.1% NEV penetration. New entrants including SAIC, DFPV and GAC Motor have entered the top 10, injecting new vitality into the market.
